If you want to dive into the cool history of Egypt’s Coptic Christians, visiting ancient monasteries is the way to go! Early in the morning, someone from our team will come to your hotel in Hurghada to take you on an adventure to the Red Sea Monasteries. Get ready for an exciting day!

Saint Paul Monastery:

Our first adventure takes us to the Saint Paul Monastery, which is a cool place about three hours north of Hurghada. It’s nestled right up against some big cliffs in the Eastern Desert. This monastery is super special because it has caves where a hermit named Saint Paul used to live, plus there are some really beautiful churches with amazing paintings on the walls. For Coptic Christians, this place is really important, and you can hear all about its fascinating history from a friendly monk who will show you around!

Saint Anthony Monastery:

The adventure keeps going south for about thirty minutes until you reach the Monastery of Saint Anthony. This place is super old—it was built way back in the fourth century, making it the oldest monastery in Egypt and one of the oldest in the whole world! People still live and work there, and many Coptic Christians visit to spend time in prayer and reflection.

At the monastery, you’ll find some really cool churches, a library, and even a tiny cave where Saint Anthony used to live all by himself. You can walk around, check out the different spots, and learn all about Saint Anthony’s amazing life. After exploring, you can sit down for lunch and take in the stunning views of the desert around you.

After a day filled with discovering the ancient Red Sea Monasteries, you’ll head back to Hurghada, feeling inspired and full of wonderful memories that you’ll cherish forever!
